Poems from inside a mother's head
This arts and crafts activity
Requires that I use a drink.
A playful child explodes with joy,
Laughs and sings,
Echoing through these walls at 4:00 AM.
How did I get so lucky?
A fleeting moment of serenity,
A chance for self-reflection.
This bathroom needs a scrub.
Let’s just accept
That for the next six hours,
We will be
THE SCIENCE OF SILENCE
It’s absolutely true, my love:
Your brain grows bigger
When your mouth’s closed.
What would you like for dinner
Besides the little ball
You found in your nose?
A breakfast out for a family of four
Requires that we come equipped.
TIMING IS EVERYTHING
I really want to tell you that I love you
But you're busy peeing,
So I won't.
I see you've finally discovered
All my buttons.
Let’s have another piece of cake
So you have energy to kick more walls.
Oh, what’s a little rumble between boys.
Next time let’s play with chain saws –
Just for fun.
